overcome with emotion
Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 5:41 AM

i am just so in love right now.

honestly, it's been a taxing week.

there was laughter and joy.
there were hugs and kisses.
there was pain and tears.

you know, i'm not one to deal with sickness well.
particularly, the sickness of my boyfriend.
maybe i have an OCD. i don't know.
all that matters is i want him to be better so very much.
so i stay up at night to care for him...
give him good things like food and massages...
pray and hold him up with all that i can do...

all that matters is that you're better now dear.
nothing else is more important.

here's a beautiful psalm that i read to him when he was asleep...
i can't find the good news version but it's okay, this is the gist of it...

it's a song and a poem and a prayer...

I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart;
before the gods I sing your praise
I bow down toward your holy temple
and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all thingsyour name and your word.

On the day I called, you answered me;
my strength of soul you increased.

All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O Lord,
for they have heard the words of your mouth
and they shall sing of the ways of the Lord,
for great is the glory of the Lord.
For though the Lord is high,
he regards the lowly,
but the haughty he knows from afar.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you preserve my life;
you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
and your right hand delivers me.
The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;
your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of your hands.

thanks God. i love you.
and i love you Peter.

End.

a message for the season
Monday, December 22, 2008 at 11:13 PM

Okay i'm at my uncle's place and i was just reading my bible and i just really like these from Matthew 6 (part of the Sermon on the Mount)...

from verse 25 to 34

Therefore I (Jesus) tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat ro drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon (who was a king) in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

So do not worry, saying "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "What shall we wear?" For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingfom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Great words. <3

End.

merry christmas!!!
Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 6:01 PM

Jesus is Better than Santa

Santa lives at the North Pole.
JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year
JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies
JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited
JESUS stands at your door and knocks.. and then enters your heart.

You have to stand in line to see Santa
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?"
JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly
JESUS has a heart full of love.

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO
JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "You better not cry"
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.

Santa's little helpers make toys
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree
JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.

It's obvious there is really no comparison.
Jesus is still the reason for the season.

Of course, Christmas has its origins from a pagan festival... but I digress.
Merry Christmas my to loved ones, and all who abound this earth.

End.

a few announcements
at 5:48 PM

1. I will not be at the computer for a few days. Well, I could check once in a while, but that's about it. So if there is anything REALLY urgent, please SMS.

2. If there is nothing urgent, DON'T SMS. I will shoot you because I get charged too.

bane of banquetting
Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 10:47 AM

why do i keep choosing pink font? argh.

lianne is not supposed to like pink. what has happened to me?
it's like nearly three am and i just cant sleep.
peter's out clubbing for the first time in his life.
and yeah i guess i wanted to be there too, but oh well.

let's talk about banquetting. you know, like set chinese dinner in posh hotels for events like weddings and all?
well yeah i did that tonight... and DAMN it is a moment of truth.
let's just say i screwed things up.

sins of banquetting committed by lianne tonight...
1. messy hair. don't blame me. my hair is wild. i broke another bun-clip thing today. ARGH.
2. arriving with no bag. idiot. had to stuff my things into my clothes.
3. bringing my handphone. not allowed apparently.
4. not clocking in. didn't know. don't blame me.
5. not having my "tools" - pen, notebook, lighter.
6. eating before banquet. so at dinnertime i wasn't hungry.
7. coming back and not knowing what to do. yeah i was a dungu. stood there n did some stuff, helped here and there. but tried to stay close to the girls cos some guy was chatting me up.
8. looking like an idiot while being usherer. i had to welcome guests n direct them to the hall. but honestly, my pants were baggy n my skin was blemished n my hair was a nest. DAMN.
9. not serving my table plate by plate. i dont know WHAT happened. i just kept missing the timing.
10. crashing into the BLOODY wall lamp. who puts a wall lamp at head level? it was right next to my service station so crash, crash, crash. sigh. with the supervisor watching, too.
11. forgetting my table has 11 guests. i kept getting 10 of everything, for nearly like 4 courses.
12. one time i served the food and realized i hadn't given them the plates yet. talk about bad planning. shits.
13. bringing food when my fren (who was chatting me up) already brought the food for me. so i gave it to another table and served them. sighs.
14. after the dinner i was just so stupid. didnt know what to do also. acted like a total dungu.

i think after i missed the first course service, things went downhill from there. sigh. still, they want me to work tomoro but i can't. sigh they have faith in me. i cant seem to see anything good about my serving at all.

End.

fuzzy
at 10:12 AM

i don't mean to blame you
for this fuzzy feeling
that i'm not sure i like.

i feel so stupid;
unconfident;
immature...
like i'm 14 again.

i don't know why i keep
making the same mistakes
and being a fool in front of you;
being a total bitch
and trying to pretend nothing happened.

deep down inside, i'm so spoilt
and one day
i may have to face the consequences.

i'm sorry justin.

My Valedictorian Speech
Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 1:09 AM

Before I begin any formal addresses and thank you’s, I would like each and every one of us graduates to take a moment to think about how we got here. No, I don’t mean by bus or by car… What did it take for you to get to this graduation ceremony?

What did you put in? Money? Effort? Time? Perseverance?

And what will you take away, as you walk out of this hall and out of Taylor’s and on with your life?

To Mr David Collins - thank you for addressing me earlier... our ever-energetic lecturers; the helpful Taylor’s staff; parents, grandparents; the supporters of our students; thank you for being here. There is no honour greater than celebrating this coming-of-age ceremony with the ones that you love.

This is a special graduation as it marks not only the parting of students to a new life ahead, but also the farewell to the cornerstone of the International Canadian Pre-University Programme: Mr Frank Meagher. Mr Frank will proceed to years ahead of relaxation, and contemplation about how much he misses us.

Though we are the stars of the show today, I think we really need to thank the ones who brightened our lights. Teachers are people who start things they never see finished, and for which they never get thanks until it is too late.

I don’t want to be biased and just name a few, though you know who you are; because every ICPU student has had a unique experience with a lecturer. For your time spent and your knowledge shared, dear lecturers, thank you.

To all the international students who sparked life and diversity onto our campus and into our course – thank you for coming to Malaysia and sharing this experience with us.

And to the Malaysian students… It’s funny how we continuously criticize the Malaysian school system, claiming nothing good could come out of it. But, you have.

I think we have excelled far beyond expectations. I commend the student council for pushing to make ICPU life even more fulfilling. I commend the students who dedicatedly organized events despite their busy schedules. And I also commend those students who made their voices heard, be it in class or in societies or beyond. Keep striving; for if you have not received your treasure yet, one fine day you will.

We’ve all made our way through ICPU and now have earned the right to don these robes that so perfectly cover the lovely dresses and suits we bought to wear for graduation. But, seriously, it is an honour above glitz and glamour; another milestone in our lives.

So, we come back to the question – what is it we have to take home with us from ICPU? Of course, we have knowledge and skills. Hopefully. We have proof on paper that we are educated individuals. We have new experiences, new opinions; memories of a great year.

And most importantly, we have new friends; comrades who were with us when we learned and when we forgot; when we were victorious and when we failed; when we were popular and when we were invisible; when we were cheerful and when we were crushed; when we were trying to be someone else and when we were truly ourselves.

We have another entry into the book of our lives. Whatever has been written in this chapter can never be erased, because it builds upon the plot of our lives; making the story complete.

Charles Dickens once said: "The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again." Be it fate, luck or whatever you believe in, I pray that amidst the uncertainty of our futures ahead, we will meet our friends again.

So I pray that in the wake of this graduation ceremony, you will find new strength; that you will soar high on wings like eagles, that you will run and not grow weary, that you will walk and not feel faint. For lying ahead of you are plans of great promise; roads that you will have to take and paths you will have to forge for yourselves.

Wherever you go and whichever path you choose; may you remember our beautiful experiences as a guiding light to take you through this journey of life.

Have a wonderful day – we deserve it.

Thank you.

End.
