if there were a competition for the worst day in the history of mankind, i'd stand a fair chance at winning.
first, i'm working in housekeeping. LOL. okay housekeepers, don't kill me. actually, it's not that bad. somedays i enjoy it. then i get... today.
i wake up at 8:27 am. i start work at 8:30 am. BAH.
my feet ache like shit because i worked from 8:30am to 11.30pm the night before. BAHH.
i arrive at work and by the time i've got my uniform on, keycards signed n run all the way to the corridors i'm assigned to, it's past 9:00am. BAHHH.
morning was okay - did 3 occupied rooms and 1 full clean, cos i was thinking "okay i'll b nice and not lump all the full cleans onto my colleagues." 5 units done, then i go for lunch. then taan asks me where my nametag is and DAMN IT i forgot to take it off last night so it's in the wash, and i just lent my spare tag to a friend last night. BAHHHH.
then back to work - and the first room i go to, the guest says "change my linen." and sorta wants it done before he comes back. BAHHHHH.
we hate changing linen cos we have to fight with the bloody doona (quilt) covers to get them on. and the doona covers are in the store room so i have to go get them. when i get back, my keycard stops working. so i'm stuck outside and all my cleaning stuff is inside. BAHHHHHH.
so i go find the girl who's working at the same level as me to borrow her card. she's in the cafeteria, which is bloody MILES away. BAHHHHHHH.
then the guest is back looks kinda irritable cos it took me so long to do his room! cmon, it's not my fault the key wasn't working. BAHHHHHHHH.
then i borrow the girl's card and go into another room, and this time i get the wrong doona covers. on the shelf it says "double doonas" but i thought it meant the rack BELOW the label not above. i'm so used to having the king doonas on top, so i took the wrong ones and had to change them. BAHHHHHHHHH.
anyway, what's nice is i found some nice cookies in the vacant room so i had a snack. but then i look at my board and... there are no more occupied rooms to do. ALL full cleans. (we hate full cleans because we have to strip the beds, remake them - fight with doona covers again -, scrub the bath tub, vacuum, mop, etc). BAHHHHHHHHHH.
then i mix up the linen in the NEXT full clean as well, and the trolley runs out of face washers so i have to restock it - and there are hardly ANY facewashers so i run up and down til i find some. BAHHHHHHHHHHH.
and when i get upstairs, i'm locked out again. BAHHHHHHHHHHHH.
a team leader lets me in, phew. so i continue cleaning, and i run out of more things on the trolley so i have to restock. GOSHHH. this is the houseman's job!!! BAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
i have to borrow the mini bar girl's key to open my final full clean. i'm only supposed to do one unit, which is either the bathroom or the bedroom - and guess what? the girl leaves the bedroom to me. meaning another bloody doona cover. BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
then i think i'm already blur by then and i try to fit a king doona into a queen sized cover, and look for more facewashers when the bathroom's already done. then i trip over the vacuum cleaner and scratch my knee and sustain bruises. and it's nearly 5:00 pm (i end work at 4:30). BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
as i'm walking back to the housekeeping room, i count how many steps it takes to get there so i can complain to Peter about how tiring it is to walk to and fro. it's about 300 Lianne-sized steps to get there. and finally, the grand finale - i arrive at the housekeeping office and the supervisors were talking about how one of the villa staff forgot the board (where they write all the allocations) and had to run to get it back. and i think... where the F**K is my board? it's on the F**KING trolley back at the rooms. so i run 300 steps back to get it, and 300 steps back to the office to sign out. BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
i feel ready to die.
End.

i was supposed to write an article about the 1Malaysia concept, but I'm just a bit lazy. In the FAQs, it states that (indirectly) its Najib's blog and portal to his citizen. Wah.
anyway, i'm not really feeling the patriotism but i'm feeling the homesickness for... kuching. lol. go figure.
over, and out.

back to work tomorrow... i wish i didn't feel so lazy.
anyway, i'm dying of boredom. have been sitting in front of the computer for more than 5 hours and counting. devoured an entire bag of chips in the process, argh. in the morning i made my second visit to the nick nack shop and bought $14 worth of books, including a huge hardcover book on reflexology and aromatherapy. maybe i went overboard - that's why the bag broke on the way home.
oh, and here are 5 signs you AND YOUR HOUSEMATE should rethink your grocery shopping regime (based on personal experiences): 5. you find it hard to decide what to have for breakfast (a choice of 5 fruits, yoghurt, 2 cereals, 4 soups, etc.) 4. your food is lined up and all over the kitchen bench so that you can remember which foods you have. 3. the fridge is overloaded almost all the time, and sometimes you have to tumpang your friend's fridge 2. your entire unit smells like coles. 1. you open the kitchen cabinet and the first thing that falls out is 4 coles plastic bags.

i've decided to revamp and revive this baby of mine.
so you'll hear more updates soonest possible. however, here is a brief overview about what's going on in my life.
Lianne's rooming with a male Le Cordon Bleu classmate (totally platonic, okay?) at a motel 5 minutes cycling distance from her workplace, Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas where she does Housekeeping (in the humongous Villas), Banqueting (commencing tomorrow) and Food and Beverage (at the Japanese restaurant, commencing September). She cycles often (yeah, I haven't fallen off yet), gets sunkissed walking on the beach and spends her off days as active as possible when all she wants to do is go to sleep. And she loves her dynamic duo Pat and Taan (roommate) because, as irritating as they can get, they make her life complete.
